My Mortgage Experiences as a Self-Employed Homebuyer

We love hearing from our customers after they’ve settled into their new home. Today, Bobby H. shares how we helped him finance two homes as a self-employed homebuyer.

As a self-employed individual, it’s not always easy applying for a mortgage. You have to deal with extensive paperwork, complicated tax returns, and more. It’s a difficult process that can make financing seem impossible. However, Ross Mortgage has helped me finance not one, but two homes!

I financed my first mortgage with Ross Mortgage in June 2015. Due to the tremendous experience I had, I decided Ross Mortgage would be my lender for all future properties. A little less than a year later, I turned to Ross to help finance my first rental property. Owning rental properties was always a dream of mine, because they help me reach my goal of financial independence while I pursue Catholic ministry.

The Ross Mortgage team did a fantastic job helping me finance both properties. Even though my second property is a rental, Ross fought hard to get me the absolute lowest interest rate they could. Let’s face it folks, unless you have tons of money or are willing to pay cash for your real estate investments, you need a good and trustworthy lender like Ross Mortgage to be in your corner. They are extremely diligent, detailed, knowledgeable, competent and helpful. I cannot remember a single time when they did not return my calls or emails with lightning speed.

Truthfully, I was in contact with other mortgage lenders before I made the choice to finance my properties through Ross Mortgage. Based on all the real estate investing books I’ve read over the years, I was expecting the interest rate on my rental property to be sky high. I was floored when I got my pre-approval letter from Ross Mortgage and saw how competitive the rate was for a non-occupied property! In fact, the interest rate on my rental is even lower than the interest rate many of my friends have on their primary residences.

In addition to Ross’ competitive interest rate, I chose to do business with them due to the people on my Ross Mortgage team. I could tell they were much more devoted to my success as an investor. I got the impression that loan officers outside of Ross saw me as just another loan number, whereas the Ross team saw me as a real person with financial goals they wanted me to achieve.

The Ross team went out of their way to help me seamlessly jump through the extra hoops that self-employed individuals have to contend with. They made me feel reassured that I wasn’t alone in the self-employment mortgage process, and that they would do everything they could to help me get the financing I needed.

I can legally own 10 properties in the state of Michigan, and I plan to finance the remaining eight properties through Ross Mortgage. I’m currently working towards paying off some of my debt, but calling the Ross Mortgage team will be the first thing I do once I’m financially able! I’m looking forward to a long and mutually fruitful relationship with Ross Mortgage for many years to come.

Thank you to the good, hard working folks over at Ross Mortgage Corporation for everything they’ve done to meet my financing needs! As a thoroughly satisfied customer, I encourage everyone to use Ross Mortgage for your entire mortgage lending wishes. You will be in very good hands!
