The Backstory Behind Military Mortgage Boot Camp
At Ross Mortgage, we’re committed to helping the Veteran community. So, when a couple employees came to us with an idea to launch a training program aimed at busting the misconceptions that prevent Veterans from using their VA loan benefits, we were 100 percent on board and gave them our full support!
Since its founding in 2015 by Mike Fischer and Jay McMaken, we’ve supported the creation and expansion of Military Mortgage Boot Camp, an education program and support group that empowers loan officers and real estate agents to serve more Veterans.
While the program started out as a humble way to provide VA loan training to Ross Mortgage employees, it has since grown to become a national movement of real estate professionals getting educated and assisting each other. In return, the Veteran community across the nation is being better positioned to use the homebuying benefits they have rightfully earned!
The program provides online and in-person trainings to lenders and real estate agents across the nation for continuing education credits, and comes with formal VA loan certification. The training covers topics like:
- How to present an offer sellers will accept
- How to build your network of Veteran clientele
- How to bust VA myths and become the “go-to” authority on VA loans in your market
While the program originally started with two instructors from Ross Mortgage, it has expanded well beyond our company’s walls, with more than 100 professionals from across the country joining Military Mortgage Boot Camp’s network of certified instructors. As a result of the program’s growth, more than 700 professionals have been trained and certified through Military Mortgage Boot Camp in over 10 states.
Additional community support is provided through the Military Mortgage Boot Camp Facebook Page. With more 2,000 followers, the page serves as a forum for members to ask questions, share experiences and help one another.
Military Mortgage Boot Camp was built with a mindset and heart to serve the Veteran community. Lenders and realtors typically see other lenders and realtors as competition, but when it comes to VA loan education and doing right by the Veteran, we strongly believe a rising tide lifts all boats. That’s what this program is all about!
Mike Fischer, Ross Mortgage Brighton branch manager and President of Military Mortgage Bootcamp, has facilitated the program since the beginning and continues to lead the community of real estate professionals and lenders whom have completed the training today.
