Help Spread The Word About Restoring a Historical Landmark on Woodward Avenue

on
September 18, 2013

Woodward Avenue, famous for its deep roots in Detroit’s automotive history, has become a legendary symbol of The American Dream. And, for more than 30 years, Ross Mortgage Corporation has had the honor of calling it home.

Long before we moved our headquarters to Royal Oak, a man by the name of Henry Ford chose Woodward Avenue as the location to lay the foundation for his automobile dynasty. He proceeded to revolutionize the industry and secured Woodward’s name in history as the home of the moving assembly line and the five-dollar per day wage—which ultimately led to the creation of the American middle class.

Since shutting its doors, the historic Ford Highland Park Plant has lost its luster and remains closed to the public. As a proud member of the Metro Detroit community, we feel it’s our responsibility to help preserve the historical significance of Woodward Avenue and the legacy Henry Ford left. That’s why we’re supporting the Woodward Avenue Action Association’s (WA3) mission to restore the Ford Highland Park Plant to its former glory.

In the spirit of Detroit, the WA3 plans to transform the building into an automotive welcome center for tourists who want to learn more about Detroit’s automotive history. The welcome center would include a theater playing historical videos, a gift shop, interpretive displays and even bus tours of Detroit’s historic automotive sites.

To turn this vision into reality, the WA3 needs help raising $125,000 to acquire the building by September 24, 2013. With the 100th anniversary of the assembly line right around the corner, we’re asking you to help us spread the word.

Whether you donate, share on your Facebook page, or talk about this with your family at dinner, every bit of support will help us accomplish our goal of reviving the historic Ford Highland Park Plant and giving Detroit another attraction to bring in visitors from all across the world.

To learn more about the WA3’s mission and play a role in keeping Detroit’s history alive, visit our Crowdrise page. Every dollar donated goes four times further because the state of Michigan will be matching funds up to $400,000.

From the entire Ross Mortgage Corporation team, thank you in advance for supporting this important mission!
