Make a list. First things first: before you can kick back, relax and enjoy the fruits of your labor, you’ll need to get a game plan. Making a spring cleaning checklist will help you stay on track and is a great way to strategically tackle all of your chores. Complete your least favorite and most time consuming chores first. Crossing off the most difficult tasks first will give you a sense of accomplishment and make the rest of your spring cleaning chores a breeze. Recruit help. Get the entire family involved in the spring cleaning process. While enlisting help may feel like a chore in itself, it doesn’t have to be like pulling teeth. Start by creating an interactive family chore chart. At the end of the day, remember to take time to celebrate and reward your family with some fun incentives, like a trip to the ice cream parlor or renting a movie to watch in your newly refreshed home.

Have a handy kit ready. Create a kit of all the cleaning supplies you’ll need to scrub, sweep and dust your home from top to bottom. Whether you have an apron with purposeful pockets or a big bucket nearby, you’ll definitely want to have spring cleaning essentials like multi-surface sprays, sponges, paper towels and rubber gloves on hand when things get dirty.

Extra fresh ideas. To inject a little extra freshness into your home this spring, open the windows and light some seasonally scented candles while you clean. You can even add a little feng shui to your family room by rearranging your furniture to change the look and feel of your home.

While spring cleaning is probably the last thing you want to do, following these tips will help simplify the process and make it more enjoyable. Happy cleaning!
